Vinyl of the Week: Abocado

Image
This weeks Vinyl of the Week is ABOCADO. Earth-friendly, with no plasticizers, Abocado has a leather-like appearance and a soft, supple hand that is easy to fabricate. Abocado, which is Enduratex’ first PU collection, offers a stunning color palette and aesthetic perfect for hospitality designers and a cleaning protocol that hotel owners/operators will embrace. This cleanable polyurethane (PU) may be disinfected with a diluted bleach solution, making it a breeze for housekeeping teams to keep it looking new.  Another key benefit to Abocado is the tricot-knit polyester backing, which eliminates  ‘puddling’ worries that have previously presented challenges to the industry. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a polyurethane collection that meets our performance standards. Abocado showed superb resistance to hydrolysis in the seven-week “Jungle Test,” once again proving that the right textile can be beautiful, soft and tough at the same time. ...

Looking past the city’s honky-tonk roots, the New York firm focused on defining Nashville’s “young and culturally driven style,” explains Andrew Cohen, the firm’s co-founder and principal. “At the same time, Nashville is relaxed and ...

Color and Autism

Image
Throughout my career I ’ ve helped countless frustrated parents of autistic children to make empowering color choices for their kids ’ environments. My experiences of getting to know these families inspired me to research the effect of color on people with ASD and to offer solutions for creating colorfully harmonious environments. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 88 children has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As more and more children are diagnosed, it ’ s imperative that parents and design professionals be aware of the specific requirements for this growing population. Special consideration needs to be given when selecting colors, finishes, lighting and storage. Does your child avoid a certain room in the house or an area of his classroom? The culprit may simpler than you think. Your child may be avoiding these areas because they ’ re too colorfully decorated. ASD children and adults tend to have heightened sen...
